Dr Sophie Nicholls
Born in South Wales in 1983 Sophie has grown up in Nottingham. Her first introduction to chiropractic was at Beeston Chiropractic Clinic after her parents had been referred by their GP. Impressed by the results of Chiropractic and the wide variety of people and conditions Chiropractors treated Sophie was inspired to return to South Wales to study Chiropractics at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic, University of Glamorgan.
During her studies Sophie completed a research project on the effects of pain on sleep and the influence of the mattress they sleep on. As we spend almost a third of our lives in bed it was interesting to discover how little research there was into the benefits of 'orthopaedic' and 'memory foam' mattresses.
Sophie graduated in 2006 and took a role in Uttoxeter where she enjoyed a close working relationship with the Occupational Health department at JCB. After treating a number of their employees through JCB's insurance scheme and visiting the factory to observe the factory floor Sophie has developed an interest in occupational biomechanics and ergonomics.
As a lifelong member of Leicester Tigers, Sophie is a keen follower of rugby and cricket. She enjoys keeping fit and playing tennis so is keen to develop her skills treating sports injuries.
