Exercise Rehabilitation
What is Exercise Rehabilitation?
Exercise Rehabilitation uses safe, purposeful and personalised exercise to help you move better, build strength and regain confidence in your body.
It can be particularly helpful if you’ve had an injury or period of reduced activity, live with a long-term condition, are managing stiffness or reduced mobility, or simply feel like you’ve lost your strength and don’t know where to start.
Rather than giving you a generic exercise programme, Dana works with you to understand where you are now, what you want to achieve and what feels achievable for you. Every session is adapted to your individual ability, symptoms and goals, with exercises progressed gradually as your strength and confidence improve.
What happens during your assessment?
Your first appointment is an opportunity to understand the bigger picture. You’ll discuss your health and medical history, current symptoms, activity levels and what you’d like to be able to do more easily.
Dana will then assess relevant aspects of your movement, strength, mobility, balance and functional ability, depending on your individual needs.
You’ll have time to ask questions and discuss any concerns you have about exercise. Following your assessment, Dana will recommend the most appropriate way forward and, where suitable, create a personalised Exercise Rehabilitation programme.
What happens in your exercise sessions?
Sessions are one-to-one and completely tailored to you.
Depending on your goals, sessions may include strength training, mobility exercises, balance work, Pilates-inspired movement and functional exercises that relate directly to everyday activities such as walking, stairs, getting up from a chair or returning to activities you enjoy.
You’ll also receive guidance for movement between appointments, which may include walking goals, stretching or recommendations for one of Dana’s online classes.
The aim isn’t to push you through pain or exhaust you. It’s to gradually build your capacity so that movement becomes easier, stronger and more confident.
Who can benefit?
Exercise Rehabilitation may be suitable for adults who are medically stable and ready to exercise, including people who:
- Are returning to exercise following an injury and have been cleared to exercise
- Have stable osteoarthritis
- Have osteoporosis, where appropriate
- Have previously had a hip or knee replacement and completed their initial rehabilitation
- Have lost strength or fitness following illness, inactivity or a period away from exercise
- Feel stiff or restricted from spending long periods sitting or working at a desk
- Want to improve their strength, balance, mobility or fitness
- Are new to exercise or feel unsure about where to start
- Want a supportive, lower-impact approach to becoming stronger and more active
What are the benefits?
Regular, appropriate exercise can help you:
- Build strength – supporting muscles, joints and everyday activities.
- Improve mobility – helping you move more freely and comfortably.
- Improve balance and stability – supporting confidence and reducing the risk of falls.
- Build confidence – helping you feel more capable and less fearful of movement.
- Improve fitness and endurance – making everyday activities feel easier.
- Support healthy ageing – helping you maintain strength, independence and function as you get older.
- Reduce injury risk – improving strength, movement control and physical capacity so your body is better prepared for everyday activities and exercise.
- Get back to the things you enjoy – whether that’s walking, travelling, playing with your grandchildren, returning to exercise or simply feeling more comfortable in your everyday life.
Your safety comes first
Exercise Rehabilitation is not a replacement for medical diagnosis, treatment or specialist rehabilitation. Dana works within her professional qualifications and experience and will always recommend further medical or physiotherapy input where appropriate.
If you have recently had surgery, a fracture or significant injury, have neurological symptoms, recurrent falls or complex health needs, please contact us before booking so we can establish whether Exercise Rehabilitation is appropriate for you.
The goal is simple: to help you feel stronger, move with confidence and enjoy movement for life.
