What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the manipulation of the joints of the body to improve movement, stimulate the nervous system and promote health.
Does manipulation hurt?
No, there is no pain but occasionally there is a moment of slight discomfort if there is inflammation of the tissues over the joint. Your Chiropractor will advise you how to manage any discomfort.
What is the Nervous system?
It is a collection of electrical pathways that transmit information between the brain to every part of the body down to the cell level.
What is the difference between Chiropractic and Osteopathy?
Chiropractic is manipulation of individual joints to improve relative moment and stimulate the nervous system. Osteopathy is manipulation of groups of joints giving more overall moment of the body and stimulating the vascular or blood system. The techniques are consequently slightly different.

McTimmoney Chiropractors use a different technique that does not involve clicking or cracking the joints.
What is the difference between Chiropractors and Physiotherapists?
Chiropractors are primary health care workers, which means that they examine and diagnose conditions themselves formulating a treatment programme suitable for the individual patient. A Physiotherapist tends to work from the diagnosis of a Consultant or General Practitioner following set guidelines for treatment of a particular condition.
